Franklin Notes
- President
Dave Bregenzer hopes that everyone had a wonderful summer and is ready to
get into the fall season and involved with the activities that the club
will present. Along with the special events, we will be having
entertainment on several Saturday nights. So come out and dine and dance
with us.
- Dave also wishes
to make everyone aware that downstairs is always a smoking area. The
upstairs ballroom is non smoking if non members are present for any
activity taking place. If the activity is for members only then smoking is
allowed.
- We would like to
remember the following members who are no longer with us, Norbert
Kacvsynski, Glenn Madensky, Steve Szep, Joseph Ferraro, Helen Ruditis and
Dottie Bloss.
- Lottery calendars
for 2010 are now available. They may be purchased from Orrin Rabenold or
any officer. If you have purchased calendars in the past, you may still
obtain the same number unless someone else has purchased it. As of January 1,
2010 any numbers not purchase will be sold to the first person requesting
that number. The price is still $30 for the year. They make great
Christmas presents.
- For our members
convenience the kitchen is open and we have a great assortment of
appetizers, sandwiches and platters. Kitchen hours are Wed. & Thurs. 5:00
p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Fri. & Sat. 5:00 p.m. to Midnight, Sun. 1:00 p.m. to
9:00 p.m. The basic menu can be found below. Daily specials are posted at
the club.
-
Stop by and check out our four LCD HD TVs over the bar and our 50" and 60" Plasma TVs by the pool table and shuffleboard. Watch your favorite show, movie or sports event seven days a week.
Baseball playoffs are here along with NFL Football.
-
Come celebrate on Wednesday November 26th with our Pre Thanksgiving Party. Bingo at 7:00 p.m. & music from 9:00 p.m. to ??. Kitchen specials available.
-
After a short rain shower, our family picnic at the Catasauqua Playground was a great success, due to the outstanding work of Stan and Marilee Ruditis and their committee. Plenty of good food, refreshments, swimming and games for all.
-
Congratulations to Kay Dietrich and Jim Weber who won the summer shuffleboard league championship and tournament. The Ruditis's placed second in the league and the Mann's Came in second in the tournament. Everybody had a good time at the Hollywood Casino as
their reward for a successful season. We heard Big Al likes the ponies.
- The newsletter recently mailed to all members contained three tickets for
our annual turkey drawing to be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009. Many
new items like refrigerators, freezer, new side roof, repairs on
equipment and other incidentals have been paid for by the profits made
from these ticket sales. So please buy these tickets to help defray costs
and keep our bar prices low. Drawing will be at 10:00 p. m. with cost of
the tickets being $2 each or 3 for $5. Money will be given away along with
15 turkeys. SHEP will play from 9:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. If you sell
twenty five (25) tickets, you will receive a free turkey.
- With the death of Steve Szep, there wasn't as much enthusiasm in the Franklin golf league this year.
- Our annual Bill Urich
memorial golf tournament was a big success. Everyone
received a day of golf, food, refreshments and prizes. The winners of the
scramble were Jim Mustacchia, Rich Demko, Chris Gessler and Ron Koch. We
thank Jim Dietrich from Brown Daub for their donation of a new car if you
had a hole in one. Also we thank the many hole sponsors and the committee
heads Kay Dietrich, Mike Ross and Scott Loring, and all the volunteers who
helped out. Money realized from the tournament ($1250.00) and the club's
match of $1250.00 was donated to the Cancer Society in Bill's honor With
the death of Steve Szep, there wasn't as much enthusiasm in the Franklin
golf league this year.
-
Mike Heck stated the Franklin Red Sox Senior baseball team is headed for Florida for a national tournament.
- Ron Rapee stated
that the bowlers fared well in the state tournament with Jon
Walters the big winner.
- The last bean bag tourney held was a big hit with Gail Moyet and Jim
Weber winning the trophy. Check at club for next tournament date.
-
The Club with help from the auxiliary are going to run Sunday Bar Bingo once a month. October 25, 2009 will be the first one. It will be run similar to the week day bingo with a few changes. Most prizes will be for money but some could be a variety of items. Cost will be $1.00 per game and $1.00 per card for the jackpot. Starting time will be 1 p.m. Kitchen will be open.
- The second floor
ballroom is available to members for parties. For details on hall rental,
rules and regulations in our ballroom call Tim at he club at 610-435-3613.
IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL MEMBERS
As a private club, only members and their
guests are allowed entry. If someone you do not know attempts entry along
with you, DO NOT ALLOW THEM. If they are members, they will understand the
reason you are not letting them in. They can use their own key fob to enter
after you close the door or ring the buzzer for the bartender. If you are
bringing in a guest, make sure you know who the person is. It is not
recommended that you invite someone whom you have just met at another bar to
come in as your guest. You just never know who some people are!
