Franklin Notes

• President Bregenzer would like to thank the Auxiliary for their help during events this past year and the breakfast, bingo, entertainment and executive committees for their help all year. With the economy so bad, Dave says come in and check our low bar prices and food prices from our kitchen.

• We would like to congratulate the following members who become honorary this year: James Deutsch, Bill Estes, Richard Frankenfield, Bill Moll, Jr., Gregg Sweeney, Sam Tatum III and Richard Walters, Jr.

• Dave also wishes to make everyone aware that downstairs is always a smoking area. The upstairs ballroom is non smoking if non members are present for any activity taking place. If the activity is for members only then smoking is allowed.

• We would also like to pay respect to the following members who have passed on but are not forgotten. Paul Wev, Richard Walters, Sr., Brett Kromer, John Heckenberger, Jean Erdman, Elinor Horn, Robert Suppa, Roaslie Snyder, Robert Mace, Sue Bastian, Jerry Wagner, Charles Yeakel, Henry Grimshaw, Sr., Bud Fix and Ken Maurer, Jr.

• Lottery calendars for 2011 can still be purchased for the last half of the year. They may be purchased from Orrin Rabenold or any officer. If you have purchased calendars in the past, you may still obtain the same number unless someone else has purchased it. As of January 1, 2011 any numbers not purchase will be sold to the first person requesting that number. The price is still $30 for the year. They make great Christmas presents.

• Stop by and check out our four LCD HD TVs over the bar and our 50" and 60" Plasma TVs by the pool table and shuffleboard. Watch your favorite show, movie or sports event seven days a week. Baseball playoffs are here along with NFL Football. We have also installed 2 new flat screen tv's. These new unitts have been placed on the wall above the cigarette machine and above the snack counter. Their primary purpose is to display the daily specials for Wednesdays through Saturdays during kitchen hours.

For our members convenience the kitchen is open and we have a great assortment of appetizers, sandwiches and platters. Kitchen hours are Wed. & Thurs. 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Fri. & Sat. 5:00 p.m. to Midnight, Sun. 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The basic menu can be found below. Daily specials are posted at the club on our 2 new Special Menu TV's.

• As in the past the  Club with help from the auxiliary are going to run Sunday Bar Bingo once a month. Check out the signs on the wall at the club for the next Sunday Bar Bingo It will be run similar to the week day bingo with a few changes. Most prizes will be for money but some could be a variety of items. Cost will be $1.00 per game and $1.00 per card for the jackpot. Starting time will be 1 p.m. Kitchen will be open.

• The second floor ballroom is available to members for parties. For details on hall rental, rules and regulations in our ballroom call Tim at he club at 610-435-3613.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL MEMBERS

As a private club, only members and their guests are allowed entry. If someone you do not know attempts entry along with you, DO NOT ALLOW THEM. If they are members, they will understand the reason you are not letting them in. They can use their own key fob to enter after you close the door or ring the buzzer for the bartender. If you are bringing in a guest, make sure you know who the person is. It is not recommended that you invite someone whom you have just met at another bar to come in as your guest. You just never know who some people are!

The Ninth Annual William Urich Golf Tournament and one handed putting contest will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2011.  This tournament is held to both honor the memory of Bill Urich and to benefit the American Cancer Society.  Through your donations and fundraising we will make a difference in the care and prevention of cancer. 

Last year, our tournament raised a little over twelve hundred dollars.  The Franklin Club matched that amount and a total of twenty five hundred dollars was sent to the American Cancer Society. 

Please consider either a monetary donation or a door prize for this tournament.  Some suggestions may be gift certificates redeemable for goods or services as a door prize or sponsorship of one of 18 holes.  All businesses

 donating will have a placard at the tourney site.  The fun starts at The Shepherd Hills Golf Course at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 14th.
